September Student of the Month: Olivia Hutchinson

Program: Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences (MSc)

Supervisor: Dr. Jordan Guenette

Tell us a little bit about your lab!

The Cardiopulmonary Exercise Physiology Laboratory does research to better understand the physiological factors that limit exercise tolerance across the spectrum of health and chronic lung disease.

What project are you currently working on?

Olivia’s M.Sc. research focuses on the effects that face masks have on the subjective perception of dyspnea (i.e, breathlessness) during exercising, as well as the physiological mechanisms that may be correlated to these distressing sensations.

What do you like to do outside of academia?

Outside of the lab, Olivia enjoys spending time in the beautiful BC mountains, hiking and backcountry camping in the summer, and skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.

Congratulations Olivia on being our featured Student of the Month for September! Interested in seeing what else our Rehabilitation Sciences students and trainees are working on? Stay tuned for our next feature!
