February Student of the Month – Rebeca Hernández Gamboa

Name: Rebeca Hernández Gamboa

Program: PhD

Supervisor: Dr. Teresa Liu-Ambrose

Tell us a little bit about your lab!

We study the role of physical activity and exercise on the health and quality of life of older adults. We particularly aim to optimize the function of those who are at risk of dementia.

What project are you currently working on?

I’ve been working on a systematic review and meta analysis exploring the effects of exercise training alone and exercise training combined with other behavioural components, on the cognitive function of older adults. I also assist with data collection for our clinical trials and the Canadian Longitudinal Study of Aging, including neurospychological assessments and MRI scans.

What do you like to do outside of academia?

I like to play guitar, box, hike, lift weights, and rewatch Friends over and over.

Congratulations Rebeca on being our featured Student of the Month for February!
