Graduated: 2018

Dissertation: Community-based participatory research to develop a client-centred virtual reality program for children with autism : an integrated knowledge translation approach

How would you describe your research in the UBC Rehabilitation Sciences program?

My dissertation was an interdisciplinary project, using participatory design approach, to co-develop a gaming software for children with ASD to enhance their socio-emotional skills in daily activities and promote their mental health. I had the pleasure of working with several faculty members at UBC and enjoyed learning from all of them, including my supervisor and supervisory committee members. My 5 years of studying at UBC was full of excitement with all of the support and resources that UBC provided to me.

Where and what is your current position?

I am currently a faculty member at Dalhousie university and help educate future OT students.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I enjoy riding my bike with my friends and family in sunny days and love exploring beautiful nature during my free time.

Congratulations Parisa on being our featured Alumni of the Month for February!
