Brittany Pousett Receives a CIHR Fellowship

The CIHR Fellowship provides support for highly qualified candidates at the post-health professional degree or postdoctoral (post-PhD) stages to add to their experience by engaging in health research either in Canada or abroad. CIHR’s Health Research Training Strategy aims to equip research trainees so that they emerge from their training as scientific, professional, or organizational leaders within and beyond the health research enterprise.

We are pleased to announce that RHSC PhD trainee and registered occupational therapist Brittany Pousett was selected to receive a CIHR Fellowship. Congratulations Brittany!

Brittany Pousett is a part of the MATTER’S Lab which seeks to develop assistive technology that supports mobility and community participation. The Matters Lab is a part of Aging SMART and the Rehabilitation Research Lab at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre.

Brittany’s research looks at promoting community participation and physical activity for individuals with limb loss or limb absence. Specially, Brittany is focusing on exploring how developing peer-support and educational programs can facilitate community participation, inter-personal connection and coping skills.

Brittany is grateful to have received a CIHR Fellowship award. This award allows Brittany to focus all her time on her research and promoting participation in the limb loss community.
