Name: Faraz Damji
Program: Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences (MSc)
Graduated: 2020
Thesis: “Using the VERT wearable device to monitor jumping loads in elite volleyball athletes”.
How would you describe your research in the UBC Rehabilitation Sciences program?
It was a labour of love! The program allowed me to grow my intellectual curiosity and dive deep into the sports medicine literature. I am grateful that I had a supportive supervisor in Dr. Alex Scott and a strong multidisciplinary committee consisting of esteemed individuals with backgrounds in medicine, biomechanics, and coaching.
Where and what is your current position?
I am now entering my fourth year of UBC medical school.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Most of my free time is consumed by basketball. I play at local courts and rec centres, watch lots of college/NBA games, and am the commissioner of a men’s league that runs every summer. Other than that, I have been DJing for a few years and recently started collecting vinyl records.
Congratulations Faraz on being our featured Alumni of the Month for June!
Awesome Faraz, so proud of you ❤️
