
On December 31, 2025, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, announced 80 new appointments to the Order of Canada. Janice Eng, Dept of Physical Therapy Professor and RHSC supervisor, is one of 15 UBC faculty, alumni, honorary degree recipients and a member of the Board of Governors to receive this highest distinction.
The Order of Canada is one of Canada’s highest honours. It recognizes people across all sectors of society who have made extraordinary and sustained contributions to Canada.
Janice Eng, PhD, O.C. supervisor in UBC’s Graduate Programs in Rehabilitation Sciences, leads the Neurorehabilitation Research Program in UBC’s Faculty of Medicine and is an international leader in neurological rehabilitation. Through her influential research, she has advanced treatments and shaped clinical practice worldwide, notably in the delivery of upper and lower extremity recovery after stroke. She has improved the quality of life for thousands of patients in Canada and beyond.
