Bev Larssen awarded the IODE War Memorial Scholarship

Congratulations to Bev Larssen for being awarded the IODE War Memorial Scholarship! Find out more about Bev’s award-winning research below and join us in congratulating Bev on her stellar achievement!

Tell us a little bit about your lab! What type of research are you conducting?

I am supervised by Dr. Lara Boyd in the Department of Physical Therapy. In the Brain Behaviour Lab, we study the neurobiology of motor learning and neural science of stroke recovery. For my PhD I am investigating how augmented feedback can be used to support the relearning of coordinated reaching movements after stroke.

What award did you win, and how will this help your research?

I am grateful to be a recipient of an IODE War Memorial Scholarship. The financial support of this award has enabled me to allocate more time to progress my PhD work and increase my research output.

What do you like to do outside of academia?

I love spending quality time with my family and exploring the outdoors. Skiing, hiking, and paddling are my favourite activities that get me outside.

In my spare time, I locum as a physiotherapist and volunteer as sport classifier for para athletics in BC and nationally.
