November Student of the Month: Joel Chen

Program: Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences (MSc)

Supervisor: Dr. Pat Camp

Tell us a little bit about your lab!

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Research Laboratory conducts high-impact epidemiological, health services, and clinical research to improve health outcomes for individuals living with chronic lung diseases.

What project are you currently working on?

Joel is a Prairie-grown respirologist with a keen interest in the rehabilitation of individuals who would otherwise struggle with lung disease. As a MSc Candidate with the Camp Lab at HLI, Joel is working to develop education material for pulmonary rehabilitation that will be more accessible and relevant to individuals with lung disease from Indigenous communities.

What do you like to do outside of academia?

Otherwise Joel enjoys singing bass, gazing at the wide-open Prairie sky and going down snowy slopes on a pair of skis.

Congratulations Joel on being our featured Student of the Month for November! Interested in seeing what else our Rehabilitation Sciences students and trainees are working on? Stay tuned for our next feature!
