PhD Candidate Bev Larssen Awarded Ruth Byman Memorial Award

Congratulations to Bev Larssen, a student in the combined MPT/PhD program, for being awarded the Ruth Byman Memorial Award! As a recipient of this award, Bev has made a positive contribution to her community through both her profession and personal life.

What does your research focus on?

For my dissertation, I am investigating how humans learn to adapt their movements in response to the errors they make during practice. Specifically, I am interested in how amplifying movement errors during practice may (or may not) benefit motor learning/re-learning in healthy aging and after brain injury (e.g., stroke).

What brings you harmony ?

When I am not working on my PhD or working in the physio clinic, you will likely find me floating somewhere in English Bay on my paddle board or hiking in the coastal mountains. I try my best to make time to do at least one of these activities every week with friends and family. For me, it is the perfect way to re-energize and connect with the people in my support network.
